Each tune brings a new shade of his polychrome musical universe. He wrote a library music leaning ode to Moondog, recalls forgotten WW1 battles with longing choirs’ chanting along a minimal droning dream house Cello tone, and drops a melancholic fairytale that pits footage of kids laughing at a street market against Fellini-Score spinet melodies. Three of 14 mesmerizing, profoundly written pieces of music, that tell multi-layered contes with Synth reverberations, jazz ambiances, experimental Brit pop sonics, and a sundry range of field recordings. Together they built an enthralling story arc, that displays the open-minded spheres of the broad musical cosmos of Modus. To open the doors to his universe extensive, he additionally wrote some author’s notes for each single composition, that evoke vibrant images on his inspirations and their sounding outcome. AUTHOR`S NOTES

    1. ALLA PRESSA
At the Press (as machine) – It introduces the record. The rhythmical growing sound of the hydrauilic press simulates the one of a shamanic ritual, while the orchestra prepares itself to execute the music that will follow.

    2. NEL MISOLIDIO
Nel Misolidio – happiness is back, awareness is lost. The song is an ode to Moondog. The tempo is in 5/4, the modal scale is the mixolydian one.

    3. AI BARACCONI
At the Fun Fair – moment of joy for the kids at the marquee as well as of light melancholy, typical of that playful fairy world (ode to the music scores for Fellini`s films)

    4. IL TEMPO TRASCORSO
The Past Time – The noises of the clockworks and the transistors simulate the progress of time and of music along with middle-eastern atmospheres.

    5. LA LEZIONE DI PIANO
Piano lessons – dreamlike yet tense atmospheres… the scholar goes to the teacher`s house.

    6. INTERFERENZE
Interferences – spaced-out setting featuring chants of cosmonauts and stellar battles

    7. PICCOLO SCHERZO
Little Joke – little intermezzo that cools down the tension and acts as advertisment break.

    SIDE B

    1. IL NUOVO ANNO
The New Year – a moment of festivity for the Christimas times and the coming of the new year in a Brit-pop inspired fashion. The piece is intentionally provocatory. The noises of fireworks and laughs create a context of confusion and lysergic joy.

    2. RANCORE PERDUTO
Lost Resentment – It represents a moment of purification and redemption, leaving behind the old resentments. The female choirs lead to a psychedelic induced sort of trance.

    3. NOTTURNO
Nocturnal – funny track that wants to maintain lightness, even if within a nocturnual context, where wolves answer to the flute that plays melodies.

    4. PASSIONE IN LA BEMOLLE
A Flat Passion - The most dramatic and contemplative moment of the whole record. The root note of the cello is set on A FLAT for the entire duration of the piece, supporting the melancholic choir of the Alpine troopers, recalling the battles on the Pasubio mountain during WW1.

    5. VERSO VENERE
Towards Venus – A sonic voyage towards Venus

    6. LA PIOGGIA
The Rain – the long delay effect on the piano emulates the relentless rainfall : The feeling is the one of inner thinking and bewilderment.

    7. IN SALETTA
The rehearsal room – the introduction is a homage to the little “Caruggi” streets of Genova city centre and the many hidden and unexpected places that you might bump into. The track is about two musicians (Modus and Simone aka Wunder Mt) that meet in a rehearsal room to jam together.
